Looking Back and Forward

Happy New Years Eve. 2017 was a wonderful year as far as my writing life goes. I have a stellar following, and for that I am grateful. Without my readers, I wouldn't be able to do what I love every day. As a writer, I live in my stories. My characters are family. Once a book has reached "the end" that doesn't mean the story, the world, the people, are forgotten. They live inside my head and in my heart. I'm sure you've read books that stay with you, and you feel like the characters are your family or friends. That's how it is for a writer.

This year, I wrote 5 books and 1 Novella. The genres were all over the place, and that's because I have so many stories to tell.  Here they are in order of release -
  • Finding Me - Book 3 in The Music Within Series (MM)
  • Tap Dancing with the Devil - Standalone MF Suspense
  • Julian - Book 9 in The Stone Society
  • Oracle - Book 1 in The Guardians of Truth - YA Fantasy
  • Urijah - Book 10 in the Stone Society (MM)
  • Dane - Stone Society Novella

Here are the stories I have slated for 2018 -
  • Tamian - Book 11 in the Stone Society
  • The Ghost in the Water - A Samuel Dexter Story (MM)
  • Finding Home - The Music Within Book 4 (MM)
  • Seeker - The Guardians of Truth Book 2 - YA Fantasy
  • Tap Dancing with an Angel - MF Suspense
  • Deacon - Book 12 in The Stone Society
The stories are tentative and won't be released in the order shown above. I fully intended on getting to Ghost and Finding Home in 2017, but the characters were being quiet. They are whispering to me now, but until they are shoving each other out of the way to say something, I will continue writing the voices that are speaking to me. Dane wasn't supposed to happen until after Deacon, but he was pushing and shoving, so he got his story told this year.

I apologize to everyone who is waiting on a certain story to be told, but I will not push a book out just because it should be next. Believe me, nobody puts more pressure on me to get a certain book out than I do. I have sat down and tried to force the words, but all that does is make for a crappy story and take away from the stories that are supposed to be told first. I hope you can understand.
I attended several book signings and met some of you in person for the first time, and I look forward to meeting more of you next year. I have 4 book signings slated for 2018 -
  • Kinky in Kansas City - March 10th
  • Rocket City Author Event (Huntsville AL) July 21st
  • Naughty Nashville - October 6th
  • Rebels & Readers (Huntington WV) - November 3rd
Here's to a wonderful 2017 and an even better 2018. I wish you all nothing but the best in the coming year.

A Halloween Treat for you MM lovers

What's better than a trick for Halloween? How about a treat? From now until the end of the month, The Ghost in the Mirror is on sale for 99 cents.

If you like MM books as well as a little suspenseful paranormal, now's the perfect time to try Ghost...

Blurb:
What do you do when you have no memories of your life except the one moment that took everything away?
My name is Dex and I'm a Marine. Somewhere in the horrors of the sand overseas, an explosion took out not only most of my unit but also my memories of everything that happened before that day. When my memories don’t return, the explosion also ends my career in the military. That one moment costs me everything.
Starting from scratch sucks. I don’t even know what foods I like or what types of music I listen to. Am I a boxer or briefs man? Do I like women or men? I also have to figure out what I’m going to do with my life from this point on.
While adjusting to my new life, I start seeing things -- things that no one else can see. I think that maybe my head injury caused more than amnesia. When one of my "visions" won't leave me alone, I have no choice but to believe in ghosts.
Along with the ghosts during the day, at night I dream vividly of two men. But are these two men merely dreams, or are they memories? When one man steps through the door of my hospital room, I have the answer. This man literally tries to lead me down memory lane, culminating in a searing kiss. Too bad my brain isn't cooperating, because this man is breathtaking.
With the help of my sassy grandmother, I begin to rebuild my life.
I am Samuel Dexter, and these are my stories.

Urijah Cover Reveal and Pre-Order

Uri and Banyan's story has been a long time coming... Eight hundred years in the making... Writing their tale has taken a lot out of me emotionally. This has been the hardest book to write yet. It is full of happiness, sadness, love, betrayal, and loss. It's hard to type through the tears. But with the tears comes the laughter and the joy.

Urijah is up for pre-order for $2.99 for two weeks only. Get yours here: Urijah on Amazon

Two Alpha Gargoyles…

Urijah Aldobrand and Banyan Sorensen spend the first two hundred years of their lives together, first playing as boys, then fighting alongside each other as warriors.

Urijah is searching for a female mate, denying what is in front of him his whole life. He sets off alone, in denial, leaving his best friend behind. A couple of centuries later, life has finally given Urijah what he wants until his best friend betrays him. Devastated, Uri cuts him out of his life.

Banyan spends years silently loving his best friend while not so silently trying to convince him they are mates. When they part ways, Banyan carries on, going through the motions of living as a lone male. Two hundred years later, Banyan has found a life for himself in New Orleans. When he makes a grave mistake, he loses his mate for good.

War is finally upon the Stone Society. Fifty of the Clan travel to Greece for battle, but not all return home.
Banyan, heir to the Norse throne, is now ready to accept the crown. Not only has he kept his promises, but a lifetime of secrets as well. Urijah, at a crossroads, decides to return home, hoping to find himself. Both ending up back in Norway surrounded by family, they each must come to terms with what the fates have in store for them. Will Uri let go of his anger and forgive his old friend? Or will he once again turn his back on a future with his mate?

Chapter One

Have you ever had a possum walk across your
grave? You know that feeling that starts at your nape and snakes its way down
your spine while the hair on your arms stands on end? Your whole body shivers
while you look around for the boogeyman, but you can’t see anything. I was
sitting in first period when it happened to me.

Again.

It didn’t take long to figure out the cause.
Our classroom door opened, and in walked the most beautiful man I had ever
seen. And when I say man, I mean this guy had to be a substitute teacher or
someone’s older brother, because there was no way he was young enough to be a
student. Long black hair brushed his shoulders which were encased in a
well-worn leather jacket. Faded jeans led to a pair of black moto boots. His
most striking feature, from the quick perusal I had given him, was his eyes.
They were a deep sapphire. I know this because I sat close to the front of the
room.

And he was staring straight at me.

That might not have been so odd if I were
Brittany or Kinsley, the prettiest girls in our class. But I wasn’t. I was
plain Rhennan Ward. For whatever reason, none of the other kids were paying any
attention to him. I turned my head toward my best friend. Surely Jenna would be
staring at him too. She wasn’t. What the heck was going on? Was I the only one
who could see how gorgeous this man was? When I turned back around, Mr. Blue
Eyes was headed toward me. I lowered my chin to my chest and averted my gaze
until he stopped and took the only vacant seat in the classroom, which happened
to be right next to mine. Great.

“Class, I would like for you to welcome Maddox
Bell. He comes to us from…” Mrs. Bain looked back down at the piece of paper
she was holding and frowned. “Anyway, say hello to Maddox.”

Maddox. Of course he would have a cool name. Not Bill or Ted, but I
had no doubt this guy had plenty of excellent adventures. His name matched his
swagger, and I still didn’t believe he wasn’t older than the rest of us. Half
the class muttered hello while the other half continued to ignore the new guy
the way they usually did.

Maddox Bell wasn’t just another guy. Something
about him was different. My skin was still itching from the way he had looked
right at me. Maybe he was an undercover cop. It’s not like our school was
exempt from kids selling drugs or teens running away. Northfield was your
average public high school. But that wouldn’t explain why he had singled me
out. I was pretty boring for the most part. No boyfriend. Highest grade point
average out of over three hundred seniors. My social life consisted of going
for coffee drinks after school with my best friend and hanging out with my
little sister. See? Boring.

I wanted so badly to turn and stare at him to
make sure I hadn’t been wrong about his looks or his age. Maybe he was so
good-looking the others couldn’t look his way, like he was an
Angel or something. Now you’re being ridiculous. My thoughts
had been off-kilter lately, so thinking Maddox Bell was an Angel wasn’t out of
the norm.

“Rhennan, if you would share your book with
Mr. Bell until we can find him one, I would appreciate it,” Mrs. Bain
announced. Maddox didn’t hesitate to scoot his desk closer to mine, sliding his
arm along the back of my chair and leaning toward me. How did he know I was
Rhennan? I turned my head to ask him that, but the words died in my throat.
Either I was going crazy, or the pupils of his eyes were slitted like a
snake’s. He blinked, and they were back to the same deep blue that had pierced
me moments before. Yep. Going crazy.

I swallowed hard as I pushed my chemistry book
over so it was half on my desk and half on his. After that, I kept my eyes down
and off Maddox Bell. More than once his breath ghosted across my neck and cheek
as he leaned closer, but I locked down the urge to face him. His scent alone –
a mixture of leather and smoke – was doing crazy things to my brain.  None
of the other boys in our school smelled this good, not that I went around
sniffing them. Then again, none of the other boys looked this good, and they
sure didn’t make me see things that weren’t there.

For the last two weeks, ever since my
eighteenth birthday, my life had gone from normal to anything but. Before the
tenth, or BTT as I liked to call it, I was just a regular girl
who made good grades and spent time with her little sister and her best friend.
I didn’t dream at night, or if I did, I didn’t remember them. Now, not only was
I having vivid dreams – most of which were nightmares – but I was remembering
every little detail in Technicolor. During the day, I had started having
flashes of someone or something in my peripheral vision, but
when I turned to look, there was nothing there. I had the feeling of being
followed. Watched.

I had read articles in various magazines about
trusting your instincts. How your gut feeling was the universe’s way of cluing
you in on what was happening around you. My instincts had been on high alert
ever since my birthday. I wish my instincts would chill out, because they had
me on edge, and I couldn’t afford that. Not with only three months left until I
graduated.

It was a good thing I was a straight-A
student, because I had no idea what Mrs. Bain said for the next forty-five
minutes. Dizziness danced around me, and it took every ounce of willpower I had
not to run from the room. When the bell rang, I grabbed my book and slammed it
shut a little harder than necessary; but in my defense, my brain wasn’t
functioning properly, and I blamed that on Maddox. Instead of going to my
locker, I waited outside the classroom for Jenna, and as soon as she cleared
the door, I grabbed her sleeve and pulled her farther down the hall. “Did you
see him?” I gushed.

“That Maddox kid? Yeah, why?” she asked
nonchalantly, like he wasn’t some kind of god in black leather.

I looked around to make sure nobody was
listening, and said, “You’re kidding, right? There’s no way he’s eighteen.”

Tasty Wordgasm Blog Interview with Andi Copeland

Oracle, The Guardians of Truth, Book 1
Debut YA Fantasy from Andi Copeland

Nikki's interview with Faith Gibson/Andi Copeland

All of us here at TaSTy WordGasms have known Faith Gibson for a few years now and I am honored to say she has become one of my best friends. We have been friends since before she published her first book and I have had the pleasure of watching her grow as an author. Taking on the nom de plume of Andi Copeland and venturing into yet another Genre, YA Fantasy is not surprising to me at all. This woman can write anything and keep me riveted to my seat. I have read and thoroughly enjoyed Oracle and I know that everyone that already enjoys her work as Faith Gibson, will love her as Andi Copeland. Now, take a few minutes and get to know a lil more about Andi, soon to be a sensation on the YA Fantasy scene.

TW: Why do you write? What inspired you? AC: I’ve been writing since I was young. Song lyrics, poems, short stories. Anything that came to mind, I wrote it down. Everything inspires me, but dreams and songs mostly give me ideas.

TW: What made you write YA and use a pen name? AC: I’ve had this story floating around in my head for years, and it finally clicked and had to be written. I’m using a pen name so younger kids won’t be trying to download my 18+ books.

TW: What is the first book you are publishing as Andi Copeland? AC: Oracle, Guardians of Truth, Book 1

TW: How would you describe your latest book? AC. Good vs Evil, Angels and Demons, coming of age for 2 sisters who find out they have special abilities

TW: Where did the idea for the book/Series come from? AC: I honestly don’t remember. Like I said, this has been rolling around in my head a long time. I started writing book 2 years ago, but when I decided to get serious about it, book 2 became book 1 and vice versa.

TW: What are you working on now? AC: Urijah, Book 10 in the Stone Society. Uri and Banyan are gutting me. This book is going to be stellar.

TW: Which of your books/series was your most fun to write? AC: All of them! Some were harder to write than others because of the subject matter, but with the Stone Society, I have created a new world that is all my own and I can make it anything I want it to be!

TW: Is there a recurring theme through all of your books? (i.e. Alpha male, goofy sidekick, lost girl, music) AC: Love and music.

TW: If so, why is that important to your writing? AC: Real life is hard, and even though my books deal with tough issues, I want everyone to know what it’s like to be loved unconditionally. And music has always been part of my life. It has brought me through the toughest times. It resonates with my soul, and therefore, most all my books will have music woven throughout.

TW: What genre would you love to write but don’t think that you would do it justice? (I think you can write anything) AC: Aw, thank you. I would love to write Steampunk. I love that genre, but just don’t have the inspiration (yet)

TW: What is the one thing you would like readers to know about you? AC: I am so thankful for every single one of them who has supported me on my journey.

TW: What is your writing process? Do you have scheduled times you sit down and just start writing? Or is it more like when inspiration strikes you pick up a pen or keyboard? AC: I’m structured. This is my job, my career. I get up and drink coffee and work a puzzle to get my mind going, then by 8 I start writing. I will stop for lunch and to walk the pup, but then I’m back at it until the man gets home. Sometimes I will work on the weekend, but usually it’s Monday through Friday.

TW: Do you write longhand or do you prefer a computer? AC: Unless I’m somewhere I can’t have my laptop (like the beach) I will always write on the computer.

TW: You are self published, why did you decide to go that route instead of reaching out to traditional publishers? AC: I had a smaller publisher with my first book, but I decided to try self-publishing so I could have all the control, and it worked.

TW: What is the hardest part about being an author? AC: Not enough time to write. I have too many stories started and many more in my head that need to be written.

For shits and giggles---

TW: What is your favorite word? AC: Fuck

TW: What is your least favorite word? AC: No

TW: Is there a word we will never read in your books? AC: Moist, lol. People hate that word. Other than that, I can’t think of one. I have no filter in real life, so it’s even worse in my books. There are words readers hate, but if it calls for it in my book, I’ll put it in there.

TW: If you could pick one of your books to be real and live in, which would it be and why? AC: As much as I love Frey, I’m going to have to say Gregor. Book 2 in the Stone Society is about Gregor and Tessa. I might have channeled a lot of myself into Tessa and I would love to live her life as a half-blood with her badass Gargoyle.

New Project. New Name.

I am currently working on a new project. This is a young adult series about angels, demons, and the Tree of Life. The series is called The Guardians of Truth, and the first book is titled Oracle. With this new series and genre, I decided to write under a different name - Andi Copeland. I chose this name because it was the first name I was ever given, before I was adopted.

I am super excited about this series. It gives me the opportunity to reach more readers and a younger audience. Originally, I had planned on three books, but in getting deeper into Oracle, I have realized it is probably going to go to five books in total.

I have set up my new author page on FB, and will be working on it as well as an Andi Copeland website.

Stay tuned for a cover reveal and more news as it becomes available.
