Happy Birthday, Rafael

This is the one that started it all. I can't believe it's been five years since Rafael and Kaya came into the world. For those of you who haven't heard the story of how I came to choose Gargoyles instead of another type of being, here you go.

My bestie, Jennifer, and I were talking on the phone. We love paranormal books, and she suggested I write a shifter story since we love to read them. I was sitting in my driveway, and we were tossing ideas back and forth. I have two concrete Gargoyles on either side of my front steps, and I asked her what she thought about Gargoyles instead of vampires or wolf shifters. She loved it, since we hadn't read a book about Gargoyles.

With Rafael being my first self-published book, it's rough around the edges. I was figuring things out as I went, and going back to re-read it now, it shows. I've thought about revising it so it's more on par with my writing style of today, but so many of my readers have told me to leave it alone. Yes, it's rough, but it shows my progression from book one to where we are now in the series.

Even though it's rough, and the style of my writing has evolved, I am still proud of Rafael, and I will forever be grateful to my girl, Jen, for encouraging me to take the chance at writing what we love.

In honor of Rafael's 5 year book birthday, I have taken it out of KU so I can offer it for free across several platforms.  For those of you who haven't read it, now's your chance to see what the Stone Society is all about.
